Bush giving a speech at Washington University
U.S. President George W. Bush on Monday urged the public to exercise patience on the situation in Iraq, where political leaders are making efforts to form a unity government.
“Forming a government will demand negotiation and compromise by the Iraqis, it requires patience on the part of America and its allies,” Bush said in a speech to the George Washington University.
The situation in Iraq remains tense, Bush said in his speech, which is part of a public relations campaign to win support for war.
The president has scheduled a series of speeches to mark the 3rd anniversary of the invasion of Iraq led by the United States in an effort to convince the American people that he has a strategy for victory in countries in the Middle East.
Iraqis, Bush said, showed in their responses over the last two weeks they want a future of freedom and peace and they oppose a violent minority.
