The Chinese Foundation for welfare of disabled persons has collected since its establishment in 1984, 3.34 billion yuan (about 321 million dollars) to help the physically challenged.

Over the past 22 years the foundation has committed to improving the situation of many disabled.

Among those who received assistance included 4 652 poor children and deaf who regained their hearing with hearing aids, 3 580 disabled school leavers and many blind or paralyzed.

spokesman for the foundation said that 95% of donations received were used to aid the disabled.
